I recently had to dust off the part of my brain that has the FTP commands branded into it. I had to move large Automotive Aftermatet data from Opticat to an ETL server. Here’s how I handled it:

ftp
open ftp.scalene.group
username/password
passive
bin
hash on
hash mark per 1024 bytes
prompt off
cd foo
mget *.*

Having to run FTP commands manually reminds me how insecure it is. All commands including credentials are sent in cleartext. Remember kids, always use SFTP/SCP.
